Desconhecidos por todo o mundo a desenhar as fotos de perfil do facebook uns dos outros.

O facebook tem uma nova aplicação que eu acho um máximo... Não sei se interessará a toda a gente mas todos aqueles que têm uma veia artistica mais forte, não tenho a minima dúvida de que também vão adorar!

Chama-se Selfless Portraits e segundo os seus autores trata-se de "um projeto de arte colaborativa com o objetivo de preencher a lacuna entre tecnologia e humanidade, incentivando pequenos gestos criativos entre estranhos em todo o mundo."

Mas afinal como funciona a aplicação perguntam vocês?! Pois bem é muito simples... Enviamos para lá a nossa fotografia de perfil para para que seja desenhada por outro utilizador de qualquer parte do mundo. Depois para recebermos o desenho só temos de estar dispostos a fazer o mesmo, ou seja, a desenhar e enviar a fotografia de perfil de alguém aleatoriamente atribuido pelo sistema. Ah... e podemos desenhar quantas pessoas quisermos... não há limite!

Não é girissimo!?

Não admira que esteja a ser um sucesso... O projecto foi posto em funcionamento o mês passado e já tem mais de oito mil imagens de 90 países diferentes!

Facebook has a new application I believe it's awesome... I don't know if it will interest everyone but those who have a stronger artistic vein, will most definitely love it!

It's called Selfless Portraits and according to the authors it is "a collaborative art project aiming to bridge the gap between technology and humanity by encouraging small, creative gestures between strangers across the globe."

But then how does the application work, you ask?! Well it really simple ... We upload our profile picture to be drawn by another facebook user somewhere in the world. Then to receive the finished portrait we just have to be willing to do the same - draw and upload a randomly-assigned person's profile picture.
Oh ... and we can draw as many people as we like... there's no limit!

Isn't it cool?!

No wonder it's being such a hit... The project started last month and already has more than eight thousand images from 90 different countries!

Talvez porque ser absolutamente viciada em Snow Patrol e adorar tudo aquilo que eles fazem ou talvez porque, apesar de ser uma balada a puxar para o sentimentalismo e um tanto ou quanto melancólica, esta música enche-me de esperança...


This is without a doubt one of the songs of my life...

Maybe because I'm absolutely addicted to Snow Patrol and love every and anything they do or even maybe because, despite being a quite sentimental and melancholic ballad, this song fills me with hope...

Toyo Ito

O arquitecto japonês de 71 anos será este ano o vencedor do prémio Pritzker de Arquitectura - foi o que anunciou ontem Thomas J. Pritzker, presidente da Fundação Hyatt, patrocinadora do prémio.

A cerimónia formal terá lugar na John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum em Boston no dia 29 de Maio - data particularmente especial por se tratar do aniversário do presidente que dá nome à biblioteca.

Citando o júri sobre as razões para a escolha deste ano: "Ao longo de sua carreira, Toyo Ito tem sido capaz de produzir um conjunto de obras que combina inovação conceptual com edifícios soberbamente executados. Criador de arquitectura excepcional há mais de 40 anos, ele tem realizado com sucesso bibliotecas, casas, parques, teatros, lojas, escritórios e pavilhões, procurando sempre ampliar as possibilidades da arquitetura. Um profissional de talento único, ele é dedicado ao processo de descoberta que vem de ver as oportunidades que estão em cada obra e cada lugar. " 

Ito será assim o sexto arquitecto japonês a ser premiado com o Pritzker depois de Kenzo Tange em 1987, Fumihiko Maki em 1993, Tadao ando em 1995 e a dupla Kazuyo Sejima e Ryue Nishizawa em 2010.

Toyo Ito

The 71 year old japanese architect is the winner of the 2013 Pritzker Architecture Prize.

The formal ceremony will be at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, on Wednesday, May 29 - which is even more significant because the date is John f. Kennedy's birthday.

Quoting from the jury citation that focuses on the reasons for this year’s choice: “Throughout his career, Toyo Ito has been able to produce a body of work that combines conceptual innovation with superbly executed buildings. Creating outstanding architecture for more than 40 years, he has successfully undertaken libraries, houses, parks, theaters, shops, office buildings and pavilions, each time seeking to extend the possibilities of architecture. A professional of unique talent, he is dedicated to the process of discovery that comes from seeing the opportunities that lie in each commission and each site.”

Ito is the sixth Japanese architect to become a Pritzker Laureate after Kenzo Tange in 1987, Fumihiko Maki in 1993, Tadao Ando in 1995, and the team of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa in 2010.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY

O dia em que somos todos irlandeses...

Ontem foi dia de St. Patrick... dia em que a Irlanda comemora o seu santo padroeiro e em que por todo o mundo emigrantes irlandeses e seus descendentes comemoram também o seu país e as suas raízes, o que devido à massiva emigração irlandesa - acredita-se que desde 1700 tenham sido cerca de 10 milhões os irlandeses que optaram por emigrar sendo que hoje em dia mais de 80 milhões de pessoas reclamam por todo o mundo ascedência irlandesa - torna este o dia de santos mais comemorado.

Só nos EUA, dizem os censos de 2008, mais de 12% da população admite ter raízes irlandesas - valor unicamente ultrapassado pelos 17% de origem germânica - São cerca de 36 milhões de americanos, com muitos deles a notabilizarem-se nas mais variadas áreas desde o desporto à politica.

E Boston é provavelmente a cidade em que esta relação é mais óbvia - em especial no bairro de South Boston - por isso ontem, como todos os anos, milhares de pessoas sairam à rua vestidas de verde e foram assistir ao desfile de carros alegóricos, música e outras referências irlandesas que todos os anos desce a Broadway St.

E nós fomos também! Lá vestimos a roupa verde que tinhamos, deixámos o espirito irlandês que há em nós tomar lugar e seguimos Boston abaixo até South Boston para assitir ao desfile e à festa.

E o que é que eu vos posso contar da experiência...

O desfile propriamente dito que faz lembrar - remotamente - o Carnaval de Sesimbra mas sem o samba e com demasiados disparos de pólvora seca. Teve momentos engraçados como o aparecimento do "Elvis" ou os mini-camiões, mas pessoalmente não fiquei fã.

Quanto ao resto... imaginem a noite de St. António em Lisboa mas Verde! Verde! Verde! e durante o dia!

Primeiro tivémos de andar quilómetros para chegar uma vez que os transportes públicos estavam apinhados; à chegada encontramos milhares de rapazes e raparigas na rua histéricos e demasiado alcoolizados - e sim, isto às 2 da tarde; e quando quisémos beber ou comer qualquer coisa apercebemo-nos de que todos os bares/cafés estavam ou reservados a festas privadas ou com filas gigantes à porta.

Lá estivemos mais ou menos 1 hora e decidimos que se calhar o nosso espirito irlandês não era assim tão forte e resolvemos vir embora...

Para o ano que vem para comemorar o St. Patrick's se calhar fico-me por uma taça de Lucky Charms!

The day everyone is irish...

Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day ... the day that Ireland celebrates it's patron saint and that worldwide Irish emigrants and their descendants also celebrate their country and their roots, which due to the massive Irish emigration - it's believed that since the 1700's about 10 million Irish people chose to emigrate therefore nowadays there are more than 80 million people worldwide claiming Irish ascendance - makes this the most celebrated saint day.

In the US alone, the 2008 census say that over 12% of the population report having Irish roots - a value only exceeded by the 17% of German Americans - That's almost 36 million Americans, with many of them becoming known in various areas, from sports to politics.

And Boston is probably the city where this relationship is more obvious - especially in the South Boston neighborhood - which is why yesterday, like every year, thousands of people come out to the street dressed in green and watch the parade of colorful floats, Irish music and other references that every year goes down the Broadway St.

And so did we! We put on all the green clothing we have, let the Irish spirit take place and "South Boston here we go!" 

And what I can tell you... 

The parade itself reminded me - remotely - the Carnival in Sesimbra but without the samba and with too many blank shots. It had it's funny moments like the "Elvis" or the mini-trucks, but personally I was not a fan.

As for the rest... Imagine the St. Anthony's night in Lisbon but Green! Green! Green! and during the day.

First we had to walk for miles to get there once all the public transports were crowded; when we get there we found thousands of boys and girls on the street completely hysteric and drunk - and yes, at 2 pm; and when we decided we wanted to go get something to eat or drink we realized that all the bars/cafes were reserved for private parties or with giant queues at the door.

So we were there for about 1 hour and decided that maybe our Irish spirit was not as strong as we though and decided to leave...

Next year for the St. Patrick's celebrations I think I'll stay for a bowl of Lucky Charms!

SAGAPONACK

Esta moradia unifamiliar de 830 m2 da autoria do atelier Bates + Masi Architects, localiza-se num lote de cerca de 8000 m2 em Sagaponack - Nova Iorque, precisamente entre o Oceano Atlântico e um adorável lago de água doce.

Um projecto para um jovem casal e os seus quatro filhos que pretendia uma casa para a sua extensa familia e numerosos convidados com jardim, piscina, garagem e diversos espaços desportivos. Isto numa zona em que o indice construtivo permitido é muito baixo e procurando que a sua pegada ecológica seja minima.

O processo de concepção foi de subtração e não de adição: esculpir a massa sólida da casa para reconectar as características do local e os seus pontos de vista de forma a devolver a sua experiência do lugar. Assim, as divisões atravessam por completo a largura do volume com portas deslizantes de cima a baixo, criando aberturas por entre as quais a vista, luz e ar penetram a casa por completo, permitindo ainda a possibilidade da paisagem ser visivel através da casa.

Os materiais foram escolhidos não só pela sua funcionalidade como também pela durabilidade num ambiente maritimo tão severo. O aquecimento geotérmico assim como as coberturas ajardinadas reduzem o impacto ambiental.

In between...

This single family house with 8965 ft2 designed by Bates Masi + Architects, is located on a 2 acres plot in Sagaponack - New York, just between the Atlantic Ocean and a lovely freshwater pond.

This residence is for a young couple and their four sons who wanted a home for their large family and numerous guests with a big lawn, a swimming pool, a pool house, a garage and sports courts. This is on a site with a limited building envelope and trying to minimize it's ecological footprint.

The design process was one of subtraction rather than one of addition: carving the solid mass of the house to reconnect the site features and views in order to return to the experience of the place. Therefore, the spaces run the full width of the house with floor to ceiling doors on both side, creating openings through which the views, light and air penetrate into the house completely, allowing passersby to see through the house the landscape beyond.

Materials were chosen not only for their functionality but also for their durability in this hard coastal environment. The geothermal heating and cooling as well as vegetated roofs reduce the environmental impact.

NOTE TO SELF

Ah e tal é tão bonito... tão romântico... tão tudo e tudo e tudo! Pois bem, mas por muitos encantos que uma paisagem coberta de neve possa ter há um pequeno pormenor que alguém se esqueceu de me contar: é que a neve bonitinha é uma verdadeira destruidora de sapatos!

Pois é... não sei se a culpa é da neve propriamente dita, se do sal que colocam previamente para evitar a formação de gelo, mas a realidade é que qualquer parzinho de sapatos que nela andar em dois tempos fica feito num oito!

Os meus merrell de combate por exemplo, que pareciam totalmente à prova de bala e já me tinham acompanhado em variadissimas ocasiões, tendo sido postos à prova e resistido às mais diversas adversidades - desde festivais, passeios, viagens e afins - em pouco mais de um mês estão bons para ir para o lixo! Destruidos! Arruinados!

Conclusão óbvia que retiro:

Nada de investir em calçado de inverno por estas bandas! 

Oh! So beautiful ... so romantic ... so yada yada yada! Well, but as lovely as a snow-covered landscape can be there is a small detail that someone forgot to tell me: That pretty and charming snow will destroy every single shoe you have!

Well ... I don't know if it is the snow itself or the slat they put in advance to avoid ice formation, but the reality is that any pair of shoes that you take there will be good to go!

For instance my merrell, that seemed totally bullet proof and that I used to wear in several occasions, having endured all kind of adversities - from festivals, tours, trips and so on - in just over a month are completely wasted! Destroyed! Ruined!

Obvious conclusion:

Do not invest in winter footwear while you are here!

Temos um novo papa!

Vê-se fumo branco sair pela chaminé da Capela Sistina, onde todos os Bispos da Igreja Católica se reuniam em Conclave há já dois dias. De seguida ouvem-se os sinos da Basilica de S. Pedro ecoar por todo o vaticano... São os tão esperados sinais: Foi eleito um novo Papa!

De repente todos os olhares - tanto de católicos como de não-católicos, isso pouco importa - se voltam com toda a atenção para esta varanda e ficam ansiosamente à espera  ouvir o tão famoso anúncio : Habemus papam! - Seguido pelo nome do Cardeal nomeado e do nome pontifico escolhido! 

Dizem os entendidos que no novo nome é um sinal do rumo que o novo Papa pretende dar à Igreja Católica... sobre qual será o seu futuro! As palavras que se ouviam na transmissão em directo da CNN eram de expectativa, de esperança, de fé! 

Pouco passava das 8 da noite na cidade do Vaticano quando as portadas se abriram e foi anunciado: o Cardeal argentino Jorge Mario Bergoglio é o novo Papa! Papa Francisco I!

O primeiro Papa Francisco... o primeiro Papa não-europeu...

E assim... Hoje fez-se história!

We have a new pope!

White smoke is seen leaving the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, where all the Bishops of the Catholic Church gathered in conclave for two days now. Then all the bells of St. Peter's Basilica echoe throughout the Vatican... There are the so expected signs: a new Pope has been elected!

Suddenly all eyes - both Catholics and non-Catholics, it doesn't matter - turn with full attention to this balcony and are eagerly waiting to hear the announcement: Habemus papam! - Followed by the Cardinal's name and the pontifical chosen name!

The experts say that the new name is a sign of the direction that the new pope intends to give to the Catholic Church ... of its future! The words heard in the CNN live broadcast were of expectation, of hope, of faith!

Little was after 8 pm in Vatican City when the shutters were opened and the announced made: The argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio is the new Pope! Pope Francis the 1st!

The first Pope named Francis ... the first non-European Pope...

And just like this... History was made today!

PASTEIS DE NATA

O segredo está na massa!

Com as saudades a começar a apertar nada melhor do que consolar o estômago com uma iguaria bem tradicional... Mas encontrar pastéis de nata em Boston não é propriamente a tarefa mais fácil do mundo, por isso toca a meter as mãos na massa - literalmente - e optar pela opção caseira!

O recheio é simples, simples! 

Basta arranjar uma boa receita de leite creme - daqueles bem cremosos e saborosos - e reproduzir! 

A que eu utilizei foi basicamente esta: 

1. Num tacho misturar 250ml de leite, 4 gemas, 100gr de açúcar, 1 c.chá de farinha, 1 raspa de limão e um pau de canela. 

2. Levar a lume brando até levantar fervura; 

3. Retirar do calor e deixar arrefecer;

4. Assim que estiver morno colocar nas forminhas já forradas com a massa folhada;

Depois é só pôr no forno bem quente até ficarem dourados...

Ficaram óptimos... Sem estarem demasiado doces e bem cremosos! 

Agora só falta acertar no segredo da massa... desta vez ainda não ficou no ponto - um bocado massuda de mais - mas de certeza que com a prática vai ficar no ponto! 

Quem diria que o truque nos Pastéis de Nata estava na massa folhada?!  

It's all about the pastry!

With the homesickness getting bigger nothing better than some very traditional comfort food... But since finding Pastéis de Nata in Boston is not exactly the easiest task in the world, there's no other option than to lay hands to work and go for the homemade version!

The filling is plain and simple! 

Just find a good recipe for créme brûlée - those really creamy and tasty - and reproduce it! Just don't forget to leave out the vanilla.

The one I used was basically:

1. In a small pan mix 1 cup of milk, 4 egg yolks, 0.2lb of sugar, 1 tsp of flour, 1 lemon zest and 1 cinnamon stick;

2. Bring to simmer until it boils;

3. Remove from heat and allow to cool;

4. Once it's warm put in the molds already lined with the puff pastry.

Then just put them in a hot oven and let them turn golden brown.

They were so good ... Not too sweet and really creamy!

Now I just need to find the secret of the dough ... it was not yet perfect - a little bit too doughy - but I'm sure that with practice comes prefection! 

Who knew Pastéis the Nata are all about the puff pastry?!

Há uns bons dois ou três anos que não ouvia esta música - acho que na altura a ouvi até à exaustão e fiquei absolutamente saturada - mas há uns dias, por acaso, "tropecei nela" e lembrei-me de como a adoro!

É impossível não ficar automaticamente bem disposta... É fantástico!

There must have been a good couple of years since I heard this song the last time - I did it to exhaustion then and I was absolutely fed up - but a few days ago I "stumbled on it" and remembered how much I love it!

It is impossible not to be automatically in a good mood ... It's absolutely fantastic!

MARSEILLE VIEUX PORT

Keep it simple!

Capital Europeia da Cultura em 2013, a cidade de Marselha re-inaugurou no passado sábado o seu Vieux Port - um dos mais importantes portos do Mediterrâneo e Património Mundial da Unesco - depois da recuperação a foi sujeito pelo atelier Foster + Partners.

O plano master pretendia reclamar as qualidades sociais do espaço e devolvê-lo ao público através de uma zona ampla, segura, livre de trânsito e semi-reservada à circulação pedestre.

Em resultado todas as instalações técnicas e de apoio aos barcos foram transferidas para plataformas sobre a água, a vegetação foi reduzida ao minimo, assim como qualquer variação no desnível do terrreno de forma a melhorar a acessibilidade.

Na ponta mais oriental do porto, surge uma dramática lâmina de aço inoxidável de 46 x 22 metros, assente sobre finos pilares, que alberga um novo e flexível pavilhão de eventos. As suas superficies reflectoras minimizam a sua presença reduzindo o impacto visual da estrutura.

Keep it simple!

European Capital of Culture in 2013, the city of Marseille just re-inaugurated last Saturday its Vieux Port - one of the most important Mediterranean ports and World Heritage Site by Unesco - after the regeneration to which it was subjected by Foster + Partners.

The master plan intended to reclaim the social qualities of the space and return it to the public through a wide, safe, traffic free and semi-pedestrianized realm.

As a result all technical installations and boat houses were transferred to platforms over the water, vegetation was reduced to a minimum, as any changes in level, in order to improve accessibility.

At the prominent eastern edge of the harbour, a 150 x 72 ft dramatic stainless steel blade, based on thin pillars, with will shelter a flexible new events pavilion. The reflecting surfaces minimize its presence by reducing the structure’s visual impact.

TO iPHONE OR NOT TO iPHONE

O assunto iphone:

Foi preciso vir para os EUA para dissolver alguns dos mitos que sempre ouvi - e em que acreditava - sobre a facilidade e acessibilidade em ter aqui um iphone.
Uma coisa é certa... aqui toda a gente - e quero mesmo dizer TODA a gente - tem um iphone. E embora isso não queira dizer de forma nenhuma que seja barato, faz todo o sentido. Passo a explicar!

É de facto mais barato comprar um iphone nos EUA que em Portugal! Por exemplo, um iphone 5 de 16GB que em Portugal custa cerca de 680€ aqui pode ser adquirido por $650 - 500€. Contudo, apesar de ser mais barato isso não quer dizer que não continue a ser caro - este foi o primeiro mito a cair, estava convencida que a diferença seria maior.

No entanto há que ter em conta que aqui ninguém compra telefone a pronto. O mais usual é associá-lo a um contrato de dois anos e percebe-se bem porquê...

Uma das coisas que desconhecia e que rapidamente me apercebi - e acreditem que não foi nada agradável - é que nos EUA todas as chamadas são pagas! TODAS! Tanto as que fazemos como as que recebemos... cerca de $0.10 por minuto.

Agora imaginem que o tarifário mais barato que existe para telefones pré-pagos é de $25 mensais e que dá direito a 250 minutos. 250 minutos de chamadas efectuadas e recebidas! Pois bem... são 250 minutos que se gastam em três tempos... Não tarda muito e estamos a precisar de mais dinheiro. É de doidos!

Facilmente concluimos que o melhor é ter o plano de $50 por mês para termos direito a chamadas ilimitadas. Mas isto só se não tivermos um smartphone porque aí o preço para acedermos à internet é de $65.

Agora e se pudermos ter o mesmo iphone 5 de 16GB de que falava há pouco por apenas $199 e os mesmos $65 por mês durante dois anos?! Faz sentido não faz?! Não é barato, especialmente quando pensamos nos tarifários fantásticos que temos em Portugal - saudades do meu extreme - mas faz todo o sentido!

The iphone issue:

I had to move to the US to break with some of the myths I've heard - and believed - on how easy and accessible it is to have an iphone here.

One thing is sure... here everyone - and I really mean EVERYONE - has an iphone. And although that doesn't mean in any way that it is cheap, it makes perfect sense. Let me explain!

It's in fact cheaper to buy an iphone in the US than in Portugal! For example, a 16GB iphone 5 that in Portugal will cost you nearly 680€, here can be purchased for $650 - 500€. Despite being cheaper that does not mean it is not still expensive - this was the first myth to fall, I was convinced the difference would be larger.

However we must take into account that here nobody buys a phone without a plan. The most common is to a two-year contract and it's easy to realize exactly why...

One of the things I didn't know and quickly realized - and believe me, it was not pleasant - was that in the US all calls are paid! EVERY SINGLE ONE! Both the ones you make as the ones you receive ... about $0.10 per minute.

Now just imagine that the cheapest rate for prepaid phones is $25 per month which entiltles you to 250 minutes. 250 minutes of made and received calls! Well... those are 250 minutes you spend in a stroke... Soon enough you'll be needing more money. It's crazy!

Therefore it's really easy to realize that it's better to have the $50 per month for unlimited calling. Or the $65 one if you have a smartphone and want to have internet access. 

Now what if we could have the same 16GB iphone 5 I was talking about for just $199 and the same $65 per month for two years? It makes sense doesn't it?! It's definitely not cheap, especially when we think about the great plans we have in Portugal - how I miss my extreme - but it makes perfect sense!

Murad Osmann. É este o nome do fotógrafo russo que nas fotografias aparece de mão dada com a namorada enquanto esta lhe indica o caminho pelos quatro cantos do mundo.

Esta forma que arranjou de documentar as suas viagens resultou numa série de fotografias muito originais e visualmente muito bem conseguidas!

Acredito é que tenha sido um pouco dispendiosa de conseguir...

Prova uma vez e vais entender

É mais ao menos isto que aparece escrito junto ao logotipo desta cadeia de cafés / pastelaria / casa do demo!

E é a mais pura das verdades! É completamente vicíante!

Há 5 anos, quando vim a Nova Yorque e estive pela primeira vez nos EUA, não tinha de todo ficado com a mesma ideia! Felizmente vinha mais empolgada em beber uns caffe mochas no starbucks - que na época tardava a chegar a Portugal - e a maravilha do dunkin' donuts passou-me por completo ao lado.

E quem me dera ter ficado na ignorância!

Infelizmente é impossível... completa e absolutamente impossível ou não houvesse uma loja destas a cada 800 metros! E não estou a exagerar! Não estou mesmo!

É completamente assustador! Para terem uma ideia, só em Boston e arredores - estamos a falar de um raio de cerca de 16km - são mais de 50... Cinquenta dunkin' donuts! É imaginarem que na vossa rotina diária a probabilidade de não passarem à porta de nenhum é aproximadamente igual a zero... acreditem é impossível!

E depois - como se já não fosse praticamente impossível resistir à tentação -  é provavelmente o café mais barato que podemos comprar! E acreditem quando estão -5ºC nada sabe melhor que um café bem quentinho!

Mas até aqui ainda não veio nenhum mal ao mundo... o grande problema nisto tudo é que juntamente com o café vem logicamente o donuts a acompanhar. A última maravilha do mundo: o boston kreme.

Desafio quem quiser a experimentar e não ficar tão viciada como eu!

And this is the purest of truths! It's totally addictive! 

5 years ago, when I came to New York and was for the first time in the US,  I didn't get the same idea at all! Fortunately I was so excited with the idea of Starbucks caffe mochas - which at the time hadn't arrived in Portugal yet - that the amazing dunkin' donuts completely passed by me.

And I wish I could have stayed in the dark!

Unfortunately it is impossible ... completely and absolutely impossible because there's one of these stores every half a mile! And I'm not overstating! I'm really not!

It's crazy! Just so you can get an idea, only in Boston and the towns nearby - we are talking about a 10 mi radius - there are over 50... Fifty dunkin' donuts! It's imagining that the chances of not crossing one in your daily routine is nearly next to zero... believe me, it is impossible!

And - as if that was not practically impossible to resist - it is probably the cheapest cup of coffee you can buy! And believe me when there are 20ºF outside nothing tastes better than a nice and warm cup of coffee!

But so far no harm has come into the world ... the major problem in all of this is that along with the coffee comes the donut. The world latest wonder: the boston kreme.

I dare you to try and not become as addicted as I am!

Esta deve ser uma das minhas citações preferidas. Se de facto há uma coisa que me aborrece e incomoda é a rotina... a estagnação! E verdade seja dita... eu estava bloqueada!

Apesar de ter sido a minha casa durante o ano que passou, nos últimos tempos o tanto sobre tanta coisa deixou de fazer sentido. Já não me revia no layout, já me tinha perdido em grande parte dos conteúdos e acima de tudo já não me trazia entusiasmo. Estava na altura de mudar!

Ano novo... vida nova... país novo... conceito novo... blog novo!

Sejam por isso muito bem-vindos ao 99 white balloons... o meu novo cantinho na blogosfera!

Muitas novidades vêm a caminho... Vêm lá muitos novos posts onde vou abordar novos assuntos, falar de coisas novas ou partilhar a aventura que tem sido a mudança para o EUA e as impressões que vou retirando.

Mas apesar das mudanças... algumas das quais já se fazem sentir - como o novo layout ou a publicação dos posts em português e em inglês - justificada pela minha vinda para os EUA! - há coisas que se vão conservar!

Vou continuar a falar de tudo aquilo de que gosto - arquitectura, moda, decoração, viagens, livros, música, fotografia, culinária - e vou continuar a publicar aquilo que achar que merece ser partilhado - noticias, projectos, exposições, concertos, receitas. - É por isso que vou preservar alguns dos separadores que já existiam - My cooking days e Soundtrack of my life.

Outros serão adaptados, como Arquitectura | Places where I would love to live que passará a falar de arquitectura de uma forma mais abrangente e deixar de se resumir à habitação, pelo que passará a intitular-se Architecture.

Bem, o futuro começa hoje! Fiquem por aí e acima de tudo... espero que gostem! *

This must be one of my all time favorite quotes. In fact, if there is one thing that bothers and annoys me is routine... stagnation! And truth be told ... I was stalled!

Although it has been my home for the past year, lately tanto sobre tanta coisa was no longer making any sense. I was no longer identifying myself with the layout, I was completely lost in most of it's contents and most of all, it wasn't bringing me any enthusiasm any more. It was time for a change!

New Year ... new life ... new country ... new concept ... new blog!

Therefore, welcome to 99 white balloons... my new place in the blogosphere!

Many new things are on the way... All new posts where I will address new issues, talk about new things or share the adventure that has been moving to the US and all the impressions that I am taking.

But despite the changes... some of which are already being noticed - like the new layout or the publication of all posts both in Portuguese and in English - justified by my recent move to the US! - Many things are staying the same!

I will continue to talk about everything I like - architecture, fashion, decor, traveling, books, music, photography, cooking - and I will continue to post what I believe deserves to be shared - news, projects, exhibitions, concerts, recipes. - That's why I will preserve some of the tabs that already existed - My cooking days and Soundtrack of my life.

Others, like Arquitectura | Places where I would love to live, are going be adapted and will now talk about architecture in a more inclusive and general way, no longer being restricted to housing, so it will now be called Architecture.
