GET ORGANIZED!

Como eu adorava ser uma daquelas pessoas super organizadas, que se conseguem desdobrar entre mil e uma tarefas e no final ainda lhes sobra tempo para sentar no sofá a ver a novela da noite!

Eu adorava, mas infelizmente não sou!

Sou obcecada, paranóica, maníaca e psicótica com a mania da perfeição... demoro horas a fazer tudo porque quero que fique tudo bem feito e isso infelizmente obriga-me a perder mais tempo que o que gostaría com aquilo que tenho para fazer!

E o pior... é que nada nunca é perfeito... podemos dedicar-nos em absoluto que no final haverá sempre qualquer coisa que não ficou exactamente como queríamos!

Resta-me tentar adaptar-me... tentar ser mais eficiente e mais despreocupada!

Até lá tenham paciência comigo que eu não me esqueço do meu blog... só não tenho arranjado maneira de no meio das coisas que tenho tido para fazer de passar aqui para deixar um "oi"...

Mas eu prometo que vou tentar!


How I would love to be one of those super organized persons, that are able to can unfold themselves between a thousands of tasks and in the end they still have time to lay on the couch and watch some night show!

I would love, but unfortunatly I'm not!

I'm obsessed, paranoid, manic and psychotic looking for with perfection... it takes me hours to finish anything because I need everything to be extremely perfect and unfortunately that requires more time than I would like!

And the worst part... is that nothing never is ever perfect... we can totally devote ourselves that in the end there will always be something that is not exactly like we wanted!

I can only try to adapt ... try to be more efficient and carefree!

Until then please be patience with me that I haven't forget my blog... I just haven't find the time between the tons of things I have been doing to even come here just to say "hi"...

But I promise I'll try!

BACK AGAIN!

Depois de um mês em casa a matar saudades - e a tratar de vistos e papelada - eis que estou de volta a Boston... e mais importante ao blog.

After a month at home with friends and family - and dealing with visas and paperwork - here I am back in Boston... and more importantly back to my blog.

4TH OF JULY

Faz pouco mais de uma semana celebrou-se aqui nos EUA o dia da Independência, dia que comemora o aniversário da ratificação da declaração que a 4 de Julho de 1776 declarou a independência dos EUA - na altura constituidos por 13 colónias ao longo da costa Atlântica - em relação à Grã-Bretanha.

Sendo o nosso primeiro 4 de Julho decidimos aproveitar o dia ao máximo e juntar-nos aos festejos.... Queríamos saber ao pormenor como seria a experiência e sabíamos de antemão que passaria por assistir ao fogo de artificio no Charles!

Como tem sido hábito nos últimos tempos, o dia estava quente e húmido - provavelmente uns 33ºC com 80% de humidade - o tão famoso sticky weather que eu desconhecia e do qual, honestamente, não me tornei grande fã. Para não sofrermos demasiado com o calor do inicio da tarde decidimos encontrar-nos todos por volta das 5h e ir até ao MIT onde estava previsto fazermos um piquenique para começar em grande as celebrações. Infelizmente a ideia foi rapidamente posta de lado quando descobrimos que a policia - gato escaldado de água fria tem medo - tinha proibido a utilização de mochilas e sacos!

Ainda assim decidimos não desistir da ideia... pelo menos até ter surgido um convite para um barbecue! E haverá alguma coisa mais tipica do 4th of July do que o belo do barbecue?! Nem hesitámos! Mass. Ave. acima e lá fomos nós até Central Sq.

E foi o melhor que fizémos - apesar de ter implicado mais duas longas caminhadas para ver o fogo - a companhia estava óptima, havia comidinha da boa e bebidas fresquinha para todos!

Mas para mim o melhor foi mesmo o fogo de artificio! Que espectáculo! O Ti' Alberto João havia de se roer de inveja... 30 minutos de fogo intercalado com discursos do presidente Obama e do Mayor Menino... a prova provada que os americanos têm um orgulho incomparável no seu país e na sua história!


A little more than a week ago here in the US, was celebrated the Independence Day. The day that commemorates the anniversary of the ratification of the declaration in which, on July 4th 1776, the US - at that time constituted by only 13 colonies along the Atlantic coast - declared its independence from the Britain Empire.

Being our first 4th of July we decided to enjoy the day to the fullest and join the festivities.... We wanted to experience everything in detail and we knew in advance that this would include watching the fireworks on the Charles!

As usual the day was hot and humid - probably about 90º F with 80% humidity - the so famous sticky weather that I was unaware and of which, honestly, I didn't become a big fan. To avoid suffering too much with the early afternoon heat, we had decided to meat around 5 pm and then go to the MIT to start where we had planned on doing a picnic. Unfortunately, this idea was quickly put aside when we discovered that the police had forbidden the use of backpacks and big bags!

Nevertheless we decided to go through with our plan... at least until an invitation for a barbecue came up! Really, is there anything more traditional than a nice 4th of July barbecue?! We didn't even hesitated and off we went to Central Sq.

And it was the best idea ever - although it took two more long walks to see the fireworks - the company was great, the food was really good and there were enough cold drinks for everyone!

But for me the best part of the day was the fireworks! What a show! 30 minutes non stop with speeches by President Obama and Mayor Menino... the living proof that Americans have a unique pride in their country and their history!

DUCK, DUCK, GOOSE

Vi este anúncio e não pude deixar de pensar... se eu parti uma perna a jogar à versão original em que estado ficaria se levasse a brincadeira a este ponto?!


I just saw this commercial and I couldn't stop thinking... if I broke my leg playing the original version how would I end up if I took the game this fare?!

AZELHICES

Eu bem sei que tenho andado uma baldas... mas hoje resolvi aqui passar para vos deixar umas gargalhadas! Pelo menos eu fartei-me de rir quando vi o video! 

A quem não aconteceu ainda um momento destes em que a vontade que temos é de nos enfiarmos num buraco bem fundo para esconder a vergonha!? Este pobre coitado teve o azar de ver a sua azelhice filmada... 

I know I've been sloppy... but today I decided to pass by and leave you with a few laughs! At least I laughed a lot when I saw this video!

Who never had a moment just like these, where we just want to sneak in a deep hole and hide our shame? This poor guy jut was unlucky enough to see his stupidity videotaped...

FADO NOVATO

Shay Estes, Beau Bledsoe e Jordan Shipley... São estes os nomes dos três americanos de Kansas City que formam o Fado Novato. O trio não tem qualquer relação com portugal - aliás todos eles nasceram bem no coração dos EUA - mas não poderam evitar apaixonar-se por este - tão nosso - estilo musical e até já gravaram um disco!

Segundo o site do grupo tudo começou com uma discussão num bar onde se tentava descobrir qual seria o estilo músical mais triste do mundo. Os três, depois de descobrirem a mútua fascinação pelo Fado, definiram um plano: tentariam executar o Fado como noviços não educados perante profissionais e iriam documentar o processo inteiro. A gravação do disco e um concerto seriam a parte culminante e o objetivo final do projecto. 

Convido-vos todos a ouvir e a ficarem tão maravilhados como eu fiquei! Estou curiosa por saber agora o que virá a seguir!


Shay Estes, Beau Bledsoe and Jordan Shipley... These are the names of the three american guys from Kansas City who form the Fado Novato. The trio has absolutely no relationship with Portugal - in fact they were all born right in the heart of the US - but couldn't avoid falling for this - so ours - musical style and have even recorded an album!

According to their website all started as an argument in a Kansas Sity tavern over which is the saddest music in the world.  The three, after they discovered a mutual fascination with Fado, set a plan: they would try to leran and perform Fado from uneducated novices to world-stage professionals and wiould document the entire process. A full-length studio recording and a concert wiould cap the project. 

I invite you all to hear and become as amazed as I was! I'm curious to know now what the next step will be!

É fantástico saber que há pessoas neste mundo que se dedicam a transformar coisas tão más em coisas tão boas! Conheço bem o esforço e a entrega com que estes profissionais - médicos e cientistas - se entregam ao trabalho... todo o dia... todos os dias!

Aqui está um exemplo perfeito de como todo sacrificio e dedicação pode valer a pena... E vale mesmo quando milagres destes acontecem!


It's absolutely fantastic to know that there are people in this world who are dedicated in turning really bad things into good ones! I'm well aware of the effort and devotion with which these professionals - doctors and scientists - go to work... all day... every day!

Here you can find a perfect example on how every sacrifice and dedication may be worth... And it's so worth it when miracles like these happen!
